Review: The Agency: A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee

A Spy in the House (The Agency, #1)Synopsis: Rescued from the gallows in 1850s London, young orphan (and thief) Mary Quinn is surprised to be offered a singular education, instruction in fine manners — and an unusual vocation. Miss Scrimshaw’s Academy for Girls is a cover for an all-female investigative unit called The Agency, and at seventeen, Mary is about to put her training to the test. Assuming the guise of a lady’s companion, she must infiltrate a rich merchant’s home in hopes of tracing his missing cargo ships. But the household is full of dangerous deceptions, and there is no one to trust — or is there? Packed with action and suspense, banter and romance, and evoking the gritty backstreets of Victorian London, this breezy mystery debuts a daring young detective who lives by her wits while uncovering secrets — including those of her own past.

Review: I asked for this book because a book blogger on YouTube, who I can't recall the name of at the moment, said that this series was awesome and that it was one of her favorites! So I asked for the book read the synopsis, the book sounds great! Not as good as she made it seem because she made it sound like it was THE BOMB!

I didn't think it was the bomb at all! Until I got around 5 chapters in. That's when all the mystery and suspense and all that jazz comes in! Then I loved the book from that point on. It actually turned into THE BOMB, it just took a few chapters of reading for it to get to that point of entertainment and excitement! I would recommend this to people that love a good mystery and a little bit of romance twisted together to make an awesome read!

I adore the characters. And it was actually heartbreaking at parts, and once you read it you'll know what I'm talking about! I almost started to cry too. Mary Quinn is awesome I wonder what mysterious job she'll have next!

I'm using a lot of exclamation point... ha-ha OK anyways. I really enjoyed this read. It always kept me guessing and after the first few chapters I was never really bored with it, I actually want to get the second novel in the series and start reading it right now! So that's my review yea I know mine are kinda short but if you wanna know about a book don't you want it to be short and sweet?

Love & Rockets,
-K ♥
