Dreamland Social Club by Tara Altebrando

Jane has traveled the world with her father and brother, but it's not until her fractured family-still silently suffering from the loss of Jane's mother many years before-inherits a house and a history in Coney Island that she finally begins to find a home. With the help of a new community of friends, a mermaid's secrets, and a tattooed love interest with traffic-stopping good looks, the once plain Jane begins to blossom and gains the courage to explore the secrets of her mother's past.

Colorful characters, beautiful writing, and a vibrant, embattled beachfront backdrop make this the perfect summer read for anyone who has ever tried to find true love or a place to call home.

Tara Altebrando made a story I've never read about. Everything was different from most books I read. Never having been to Coney Island I loved reading this book it made it that much more interesting. Making mental images in my mind of what I think it would look like from Janes point of view. I did read the ARC so there were little errors in the writing but it was easy to make it right. Something that took forever to take flight was Leo and Janes relationship. Babette sounds so adorable and I want to see what she would look like if she were real. I don't understand why Marcus doesn't like her even a little bit. I loved every time she figured out something new about her mom. I'm glad I still have my mother in my life I don;t know what I would do if she wasn't around. Or I do but I'm glad that's not how my life is. Late nights with a cute boy sign me up. My life's not that simple though so that will stay in the book for when I want to get away from everything else.
