Dark Mirror by M.J. Putney

Dark Mirror.....Amazing story. There are so many words I could use to desribe this novel. If you have not read this I think you should stop reading this because of spoilers and go and buy the book to read it yourself.
I love the setting and era. Tory is so clueless on how magic could really help the world in the beginning. She wants nothing to do with it...at first. After her father sent her to Lackland Abbey she wants to just go home and everything be back to normal. Frankly I didn't see anything wrong with her saving her nephew from falling into the ocean and dying. I would have done the same. But it put shame and distaste to the family name and she knows this because of the way everyone reacted to her flying episode. The only ones that really thanked her for the rescue was her brother.
At Lackland Abbey she makes a few discoveries that will help her on her mission to go back home. First do everything your told. Second don't use magic unless told otherwise by an elder.
After joining the Irregulars Tory made new friends and found a way to help the world with her magic abilities and traveling in merlins mirror, which I found exciting when I was reading these parts. With all of the difficulties of helping in the war I think Allarde and Tory were brought closer. I mean I think I'd be closer to someone I had an almost near death experience with them, right? Anyways I can't wait to see what other journeys and magic ways are going to be opened in the sequel Dark Passage. Maybe she'll finally go home and marry Allarde.  Let's only hope :]
